About Me

Hi I’m Jennifer! I developed a love of photography when I was very young. I have a feeling my Mother and Grandmother helped this love grow as they both always had great cameras and took great snaps.  Everyone always joked that we are the “camera” family so watch out and be prepared to have lots of photos taken when we were around!  As a teen I was always snagging my Moms camera and taking photos left and right. Much money was spent on developing film of my friends and I.

My love of photography grew with the birth of my first child in 2002.  I moved up in the times, got myself a digital camera and have not been without one since.  I loved being able to take as many photos as I wanted to document his life and save memories.  I only wish I knew then what I know now about photos!  When I was pregnant with my 3rd and final child I decided I wanted a good camera to get amazing shots of my new baby.  I got the camera 2 months before she was born and couldn’t have been more excited to make something amazing with it. Unfortunately I was shocked to find out that an amazing camera does NOT make amazing photos!  Yes the photos were nice, but they were snapshots and nothing like what I had envisioned.  I tinkered with my camera in auto for a year and finally a year ago decided it was time to get serious and learn how to work my camera.  Dec 2010 I moved out of auto and into manual mode and have not looked back. The difference was amazing.  I started reading everything I could to learn about photography, my camera, settings, etc. and in Feb 2011 I made the big decision to turn my passion into a profession.  I have spent the last year learning about lighting, and exposure and all the things most people have no idea go into photography.  It was an eye opening experience to realize that this isn’t just point, shoot and get great results. It takes time, dedication and lots of learning and practicing.  I spent most of 2011 portfolio building and practicing to perfect my skills.

I am a natural light photographer. I prefer to do my shoots outdoors and in natural settings.  I do have backgrounds and am able to use natural light indoors for special shots as well, especially newborn photoshoots.  I want to catch you interacting with your child, your spouse, or that special person in your life.  I want to help you document those small moments that pass in the blink of an eye and create a piece of art that you will treasure for life.  The kiss of a sibling on their newborn baby’s cheek, the smile when your dog licks the childs face, the fun banter between brother and sister, first birthdays, or something as simple as stopping to smell the flowers.  I am here to provide what YOU are looking for in your portraits.  I love a nice posed photo to show the whole family, and I love something a little more creative as well.

I now feel like I am ready to be called a “Photographer”.  I am excited to see what the year 2012 brings with my business and what families and people I will meet along the way! I am constantly striving to perfect my photography and to learn everything there is to know. Photography is a never ending journey of learning and I am loving the ride!
